About

»» About Odyssey – Keir Dullea Online

This site sort of just sprang up overnight. A long time ago on Canadian television (I’m a Canadian) I’d seen Keir in the series THE STARLOST and found him to be very interesting. His presence was quite strong in terms of what he conveyed through his portrayal of Devon. It was only much later I’d known of his work in the Stanley Kubrick film 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY as Commander Dave Bowman. Along the line I think I must have come across 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY many times on television, but never all in one shot. It was either “The Dawn of Man” sequence or the discovery of the monolith on the moon or the disconnection of HAL-9000 by Bowman that I’d come in on, but never the entire film. One night here in Canada, the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) our premiere network showed the film in its entirety and I thought I’d catch it. So I did…. And was not disappointed. I loved the film and soon, bought it on DVD for my own. I soon raided the internet for any information on Keir and found there wasn’t much. Not a lot in terms of images of his work or content on the many information pages out there on him. So thus was the beginning of this website… an honour to Keir’s work and to the man.
