Keir’s Film “Blind Date” To Get The BluRay Treatment
Posted By: keir dullea online |      No Comments

According to Dread Central, Keir’s film BLIND DATE is finally being released on Bluray. According to this source the disc will be loaded with extras. Here’s hoping another audio commentary from Keir. More below the cut.

Slithis, Night Angel, and Blind Date on Their Way to Blu-ray

That brings us to Nico Mastorakis’ 1984 hi-tech giallo Blind Date, coming soon to Blu courtesy of Scorpion Releasing. If you have never seen it, this one is most definitely out there:

A man goes blind when remembering his lost girlfriend, but the doctors can’t find anything wrong with his eyes. They fit him with an experimental device that allows him to see with the aid of a computer interface and brain electrodes. Meanwhile, a taxi driver is taking young women up to their apartments, giving them gas, and performing a little fatal amateur surgery on them. Their paths inevitably converge, and the blind man must try to stop the psychopath.

The device that allows him to see in what I’ve always referred to as “Tron-Vision” looks like a slightly modified Sony Walkman. Truly wacko in the best way possible.

Joseph Bottoms, Kirstie Alley, Lana Clarkson, James Daughton, Keir Dullea, and Marina Sirtis round out the surprisingly impressive cast for this sci-fi slasher, which was written and directed by cult Greek filmmaker Nico Mastorakis. The movie’s biggest claim to fame may very well be that it marks one of Kirstie Alley’s only nude scenes. So, for all your Saavik fans out there, purchasing this one is most definitely the only logical decision.

Scorpion Releasing has unveiled tentative box art for Blind Date with word that they hope to load this disc up with cool extras. Expect a release date announcement shortly.

Keir :: New Event Images Added
Posted By: keir dullea online |      No Comments

I have two new recent events of Keir’s to post. Both have to do with the TCM Classic Film Festival. In the first Keir is alone in a discussion panel on the screening of DAVID AND LISA held on April 08, 2017. The other is an event both Keir and Mia attended celebrating the TCM Film Festival. Keir looked very dapper and Mia looked very elegant in black.

Keir & Gary :: 6 Reasons “2001: A Space Odyssey” Is The Most Important SciFi Film Of All Time
Posted By: keir dullea online |      No Comments

This video is from back in 2014, but Keir and Gary Lockwood (Frank Poole) talk to IGN about the reasons 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY is the most important SciFi film of all time. I’d have to say I agree with eveything they say. It still galls me how everyone keeps saying the most important film was George Lucas’ 1977 Star Wars. It wasn’t. Star Wars always has been more of an adventure film, while it has science fiction elements to it, it is still largely based on the Saturday morning serials that touches tangentially on the Joseph Campbell mythos of A Hero With A Thousand Faces. But if we judge which film had the most impact on the science fiction genre on a whole, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY is by far THE most important film bar none.

From 1971 :: Keir Dullea Appears on CBS “Camera 3”
Posted By: keir dullea online |      No Comments

I have two new images of Keir from 1971 where he hosted a CBS program called Camera 3 in what they called “a primer for 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY“. It looked like the program coincided with a television airing of the film. Keir of course played Commander Dave Bowman along with Gary Lockwood who played Dr. Frank Poole. Enjoy.

Screenrant Names “2001: A Space Odyssey” Their #1
Posted By: keir dullea online |      2 Comments

… most confusing film of all time. Not too surprising. They named other films such as Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris, Christopher Nolan’s Memento, and David Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch. Here’s what they had to say about Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece:

1. 2001: A Space Odyssey

2001screenrant

Often cited as one of the greatest visual directors, Stanley Kubrick never played it safe when it came to choosing subject matter for his films. A Clockwork Orange is a violent tale about freedom of choice, Eyes Wide Shut is a study of elite obsession, and 2001: A Space Odyssey is about the evolution of humans, or so we think. Honestly, there have been so many discussions on what 2001 is actually about that even 48 years after its release, it’s still one of the most talked about movies in history.

The scene that sparks the most discussion is the film’s trippy ending in which astronaut Dave is sucked into a psychedelic wormhole that looks like a Pink Floyd laser show. Once through, Dave watches himself age in a mysterious room. Dave grows old and dies in a matter of minutes, seemingly, and is then reborn as a giant baby in a bubble to journey back to Earth. A master visual storyteller, Kubrick doesn’t clear anything up with any dialog, and while some of the questions it poses are answered by its less acclaimed sequel, the ending to 2001 still baffles most audiences that watch it today, making it our pick for the most talked about confusing movie of all time.
